Before field joint welding, the welding seam of each pipe section must meet a given angular difference from the previous section according to pipeline project specifications. The Seam Aligner clamp allows a fast, precise and safe positioning of the pipe, even in case of bent pipes with angular inertia. The seam aligner clamp is composed of four hydraulic arms with 12 polyurethane-coated rollers wrapped around the pipe, radio controlled by the operator via remote control. Safety lock valves on the hydraulic circuit ensure a firm wrapping. Once the pipe is securely grabbed, the operator can rotate the pipe, clockwise or anticlockwise, to position the weld seam properly in relation to the previous pipe section. The seam aligner dramatically reduces the pipe positioning process and the increases jobsite safety for workers.
